Serv Wessex were presented with two new motorbikes to ensure they can continue to deliver life saving blood to local NHS hospitals free of charge.
The bikes, both BMW F800 GT’s were supplied by CW Motorcycles Dorchester. They were donated and presented by Mr Michael Michael from Core Security Systems and Mr John English from Security Drivers International.
Mr English said, “It is a pleasure we have been able to support the Blood Bikers in this small way. You guys and girls give up your time free of charge and venture out when most of us are tucked up in our beds to support the NHS.”
Mr Michael added, “You are applauding us for giving you these bikes, it should be us applauding you for doing what you do. Well Done.”
In reply Mr Danny Brown, chairman of Serv Wessex said, ”Being a 100% volunteer service we rely entirely on the general public and generosity of companies such as yourselves so we can keep operating. These bikes have replaced two of our ageing bikes. Thank you.”
Serv Wessex is a registered charity that collects and delivers blood products within the Wessex Region. Last month they transported 248 products and travelled over 17,000 miles doing so. They survive by public donations, if you are a company that could support the running costs of one or more of the vehicles or if you would like to volunteer please get in touch either through their website or by emailing secretary@servwessex.org.uk. They need volunteers, especially controllers to man the phones and send out the riders.
